Live audio welcome from TJ:

The poem below is our unique invitation to TJ’s Poetry Corner where Ladies are always welcome to share their poetry while relaxing and enjoying good poetry wine.

Step to the Mic

Step to the Mic and read a phrase
From your life script, if you please.
Or maybe you would like to tell someone else's story
It doesn't matter my Sista's “just read!”
Here's where Ladies can come together,
Bonding and sharing their most intimate thoughts.
Where words of expressions vibrate the walls.
The price for articulation, No cost!
Women of all color expressing themselves
Through the path of the spoken word,
There are those who may not understand
Because their visions are hatred blurred.
But- here our poets come together peacefully
To be intoxicated by good poetry wine.
For those who wish to feel the love
By all means please get on-line.
Or maybe you would like to just sit back
And allow the verses to ease your mind,
The pleasure is yours for the taking.
However, to the Poetess, please be kind.
Stay focused my sisters, don’t look back
Tomorrow is yet another day.
With all the love inside our words
No haters can get in our way
So, hold on to the arms of your chairs
Buckle up and enjoy the ride.
As our Sista’s come slinging words of peace and love
Bringing it strong and personified.
Step to the Mic.......

        Madam and the Census Man

        The census man,
        The day he came round,
        Wanted my name
        To put it down.

        I said, JOHNSON,
        ALBERTA K.
        But he hated to write
        The K that way.

        He said, What
        Does K stand for?
        I said, K–
        And nothing more.

He said, I’m gonna put it
        Kay.
        I said, If you do,
        You lie.

        My mother christened me
        ALBERTA K.
        You leave my name
        Just that way!

        He said, Mrs.,
        (With a snort)
        Just a K
        Makes your name too short.

        I said, I don’t
        Give a damn!
        Leave me and my name
        Just like I am!

        Furthermore, rub out
        That MRS., too–
        I’ll have you know
        I’m Madam to you!
